Sixty six members of the SMOS track team participated at the CYC Championships held at DeSmet High School on Saturday, May 11, competing with great integrity & sportsmanship throughout the day. The team’s goals for the season were “having fun, learning, and competing like champions” and all team members achieved that and much more.
The “cherry on top” for a great track season is that the Dragons won three Team and nine Event Championships. The Team Championships were in the Overall Girls, Girls 8-9, and Boys 14-15 categories. SMOS was also a CYC runner-up in the overall boys and girls combined category.
The event championships were won by Cruz Medina (7U Long Jump), Rocio Cassel (8-9 4x100m), Nora Hayde (8-9 200m, 4x100m & 10-11 4x100m), Eliana Klosterman (8-9 Long Jump, 100m, 4x100m & 10-11 4x100m), Josephine Saracino (8-9 4x100m), Phoebe Jackson (10-11 4x100m), Ella Oatis (10-11 100m, 200m & 4x100m), and Noah Medina (14-15 400m).
Congratulations to every single one of our Track Dragons! We are proud of you!
