Shortly after his Resurrection, Jesus accompanied two disciples on their journey from Jerusalem to Emmaus – walking with them in their grief, offering hope, and finally revealing himself through the breaking of the bread.
Jesus wants to do the same for YOU!
In preparation for the National Eucharistic Congress in this time of Eucharistic Revival, we have one of the largest Eucharistic pilgrimages in history. Our nation will process with our Eucharistic Lord through cities, along highways, and past rural towns on his way to the 10th National Eucharistic Congress.
St. Louis is the final stop on one of the four routes of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, the Junipero Serra Route. Beginning in California, these pilgrims will travel with our Eucharistic Lord over 2,200 miles, crossing the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains on foot! While in St. Louis on July 5–7, 2024, the pilgrims will participate in a service activity and Eucharistic Adoration. You’re welcome to join them! You can see the full schedule of events in St. Louis (and register to attend) here. (Or you can use this link to access a printable pdf version of the plans for St. Louis).
On July 7, the pilgrimage will travel from the Cathedral Basilica to St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church before leaving St. Louis and continuing along the route towards Indianapolis. This portion of the pilgrimage will come straight down Tower Grove Avenue at the western edge of the Shaw neighborhood, and we want to invite all parishioners to join us in witnessing this special event!
As a parish, we will gather at the western end of Flora Pl. (4300 block) where it meets Tower Grove Ave. Bring your lawn chairs and wagons for children, a snack and a water bottle, so that you can sit and pray with the procession as it moves past. Parish staff will be there to direct you to the homes of parishioners on the block who have generously offered a bathroom or place to sit in case of emergency. Anyone who is interested is welcome to step into the procession at any point on its journey and step out when you are ready.
The procession is scheduled to leave the Cathedral about 11:00 a.m. We anticipate that it will move past the Shaw neighborhood between Noon and 1:00 p.m.
