Extracurricular: Bellarmine Speech League

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! We are pleased to announce auditions for the SMOS Speech Team! Students in grades 5 through 8 are eligible to participate in the Bellarmine Speech League tournaments.

Jenn Ohs will once again serve as the speech team coach and coordinator for the SMOS team, which she has done since 2019. In 2021, she was also appointed to the Bellarmine Speech League’s Board.

If interested in auditioning, students need to complete the Google Form linked below with a parent/guardian by Thursday, September 7.

Below are the times and dates for practices and tournaments. The full schedule and tournament of dates can be found here. The dates are scheduled far enough in advance that if a student is offered a place on the speech team and commits to taking the spot, the student is required to attend all speech tournaments. Sporting events, family activities, and other opportunities often arise on dates that conflict with a tournament, but by accepting a spot on the team, a student is obliged to participate all tournaments.

Practices
Mondays after school until 4:30pm in Purcell Hall.

November 11, 2023 (Sa) – 9:30am – 3pm
February 10, 2024 (Sa) – 9:30am – 3pm
March 23, 2024 (Sa) – 9:30am – 3pm
TBA May 2024 – Final Meet (must qualify)
