St. Margaret of Scotland Families:
Recently, I was asked by one of our parents about the influx of Friday half-days in the schedule compared to last year. I want to take the chance to ensure all of you that the addition of half-days in the schedule is to give the teachers an opportunity to have informative faculty meetings, allow for collaboration, and give our faculty a chance to participate in professional development.
This past Friday we invited representatives from Easterseals Community and Disability Services to talk to us about the best practices of inclusion and support for our neurodivergent student.
Easterseals is an organization that seeks to provide full inclusion, equity, and access by providing disability and community services for children with disabilities and neurodivergence. During our faculty meeting, we participated in professional learning specifically about Autism Spectrum Disorder with a focus on understanding these students better and how to meet their needs in the classroom.
I was very impressed with our presenter and the faculty and staff’s participation. Know that we have a wonderful faculty and staff who are fully committed to our mission of creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive Catholic school based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and Catholic Social Teaching.
If you are interested in learning more about Easterseals, I encourage you to check out their website. https://www.easterseals.com/midwest/
Have a great week,
Patrick Holley
