This “diverse, urban Catholic community” is made up of people of all ages and backgrounds, and we are all striving to grow as individuals and as a parish family, in our journey with Christ. As our mission states, we are committed to “educating children and adults to live a full Christian life in today’s world.” We invite you to learn more about our faith in formats that vary from formal to casual and always emphasize the relational–through presentations, discussion groups, book clubs, retreat weekends and more.
Our Adult Faith Formation takes many shapes and seeks to meet the needs of parishioners at any stage in faith development, and often forms under the skills and interests of parishioner-leaders. Our pastoral staff coordinates regular events ranging from film screenings and guest speakers, to retreat and seasonal activities that complement the worship, prayer and community life at St. Margaret of Scotland.
We assist parents in the work of raising young Catholics by providing religious education, formation, support and social time in our parish school, through partnership with the South City Deanery Parish School of Religion (PSR, for students not enrolled in full-time Catholic school), through family formation activities, and in our Youth Group.
Not Catholic? Been away for a while? If you’d like to get to know—or get reacquainted with—the Catholic Church, you’re invited to join us at R.C.I.A. or to set up a meeting so we can find out how to best partner with you on your faith exploration journey. The door is open!
Adult Formation
Adult Faith Formation, the continuing growth and development of a relationship with God, is as basic and essential to realizing one’s human potential as anything.
Youth Formation
St. Margaret of Scotland offers opportunities for children and young people to engage with the Word of God and interact with each other via Youth Ministry and Children’s Liturgy of the Word.
Parish School of Religion
The Parish School of Religion (PSR) provides catechetical instruction and sacramental preparation to children and youth in the parish enrolled in first through eighth grade in public or private non-Catholic schools.
Parish Statement Against Racism
St. Margaret of Scotland Parish stands against racism. On September 18-19, 2021, at the initiative of the Living Justice Ministries Racial Equity Team, we issued our Parish Statement Against Racism.
