As the SMOS DEI Committee continues to honor Black History Month for its centennial celebration, the students were entertained and enthralled on Thursday, February 26th by Teaching Artist, Kunama Mtendaji.
As part of this celebration, the SMOS DEI Committee has scheduled culminating assemblies for the students (2 of them, divided by age groups) for the morning of Thursday, February 26th.
Throughout the month of February, St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic School will honor Black History Month with activities designed to be simple, meaningful, and educational for our students.
The SMOS DEI Committee is putting the final touches on its plans for the upcoming Martin Luther King holiday this weekend, January 16–19, to honor Dr. King’s enduring impact and message of equality, justice, and community.
Martin Luther King Day is Monday, January 19, and students will have the day off from school. The SMOS DEI Committee invites all St. Margaret’s families to take part in several events planned throughout the holiday weekend, January 16–19, to honor Dr. King’s enduring impact and message of equality, justice, and community.
All are welcome to join the SMOS DEI Committee Meeting next week on Friday, November 21, 2025, after drop-off. There will be a discussion of the ongoing work of the committee this year in the absence of a full-time DEI Coordinator – and plans for activities and events for the next half of the school year.
The SMOS PTA Inclusion & Diversity Committee will once again celebrate the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) holiday at St. Margaret’s School with an ofrenda (or altar) in the cafeteria starting November 3. All are encouraged to sign-up to participate!
All are welcome to join the PTA Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee for their regular monthly meeting on Friday, October 17 at 8:00am in the Teacher’s Lounge.
