Uniforms may be purchased from any number of local and online retailers. We have three official uniform suppliers – and those are the only places to find the plaid uniform items.  In addition, gym uniforms for grades 4-8 can be purchased exclusively through South City Sporting Goods. Please consult the official suppliers listed below to determine the accepted styles of uniform pants/shorts and blouses/shirts – and please see more details below for ordering and other information. Other retailers that sell “uniform” clothing like Target, Old Navy, Walmart, Children’s Place, Land’s End, Amazon, etc., are suitable to use as well for shirts, pants, shorts, etc. Be sure to check out all of the guidelines in the “Dress & Personal Appearance Code” below.

Dress and Personal Appearance Code

St. Margaret of Scotland Parish School students are required to wear uniforms daily unless otherwise specified by the Principal. Specific uniform requirements are listed in the St. Margaret of Scotland Family Handbook.

(School Board Policy, Reviewed June 2023)

The following code establishes the necessary standards to enhance an appropriate academic atmosphere.  While St. Margaret of Scotland School does not dictate what is a suitable appearance outside the school setting, a student’s appearance within the school setting should reflect their pride in our school. Uniforms are to be worn on the first half-day of school and daily, except on special occasions specified by the principal.  A note must accompany the student if there is a reason for not wearing a uniform.

Uniforms should be clean, wrinkle-free, and in good repair.

Parents are encouraged to see that all uniform items and jackets, and coats are clearly labeled with the child’s name.

Non-uniform items must be removed while in the school building.

T-shirt fridays

Students can wear any official SMOS t-shirt every Friday during the school year. This includes Spiritwear, SMOS sports shirts, Christmas concert, Walk-a-Thon, or any other event.  It just has to say SMOS on it and be related to the school or parish in some way.  The rest of the uniform policy still applies.  (Spiritwear sweatshirts can be worn all week.)

If you are new to the school or have outgrown t-shirts, check out Maggie’s Closet – there’s always a large supply of shirts! Additionally, Spiritwear t-shirts can be purchased at any time during the school year. And the PTA provides a class shirt for each student – color-coded by grade – at the beginning of each school year – those can be great options as well.
