If you haven’t yet had a chance to fill out the SMOS Volunteer Survey, now’s the time!  Please consider filling out the survey and deciding how you can offer up your time or talents to our school community!  We plan to start divvying out duties and reaching out to volunteers starting after the Labor Day holiday (September 5th), so please try to respond over the next several days.

The volunteer survey is one way that most PTA committees are serviced and how many school events, operations, and projects are run.  There are so many opportunities for caregivers to get involved and help our essential programs run smoothly.  Specifically, our most pressing needs are volunteers for Room Parents, Library Volunteers, Recess Helpers & Wednesday Mass Traffic Guards.  The need for recess helpers and Mass guards is immediate – and the library is scheduled to welcome students on September 6th.  The library is completely parent-run and without volunteers, this valuable resource to our SMOS community does not exist.  Currently, 5 people have indicated that they could help in the library – we need more!  Our other immediate need is for Room Parents – these people help coordinate holiday parties and help teachers get supplies when necessary.  Currently, only about 10 people signed up, and yet there are 19 classrooms that need a room parent.
