2024 Walk-A-Thon Wrap-Up

Make Your Donations For SMOS Walk-A-Thon

Walk-A-Thon 2024 is in the books!  Thank you to all that volunteered on that day, Jenny Hill for organizing the volunteers, the card markers, the hot dog grillers and everyone in between.  A special thank you to Jeff Ranek for loading everything needed for the day and hauling it to the park.  Also to Rita Harvatin and Katie Kirner for then hauling everything back to school after the event and unloading.  Thank you to the families who attended the event!  It was an absolutely perfect autumn day to gather together and visit with friends and classmates, walking laps around Tower Grove Park.

Walk-A-Thon Donations are due by November 18th. Hopefully the children can enjoy a movie on November 26th if the $20,000 walk-a-thon goal is met (we are halfway there!)  You can submit total amounts through WeShare (via the link below) or bring a check or cash to the School office.  Please make sure to put the check in an envelope and note the student’s name and that it’s for ‘Walkathon’.

It is important that whether your family participated in the walk or not, that EACH FAMILY contribute to the Walk-A-Thon either by donating directly, or by still collecting pledges.  Remember – to make our goal of $20,000 (all of which goes towards operating expenses at the school), we need to collect at least $50/student.  So, please make your donations today to provide these much-needed funds for our School.  If you have further questions, please reach out to Christine Stephens.

Now, here are some stats from this year’s Walk-A-Thon:

  • 62% = children participated – walking over 850 miles combined!
  • Ms. Adriyanna Salameh’s class had the highest participation (22 out of 23 students attending) – winning an ice cream party for the class!  Congrats to 3s!!
  • Highest Walker honors go to Oscar Marquard and Marian Ohs – both of whom will have their names engraved for the plaque in the cafeteria.  (For a list of the top walkers over 10 miles, see below.)
