Hispanic Heritage Month @ SMOS
Give Me Some Diversity! The Diversity Council is getting just what they asked for! It is Hispanic Heritage Month!! And they are learning about some really influential human beings that have already and continue to change the world!! Have you heard about Cesar Chavez who fought for the rights and protections of hundreds of thousands of farm workers or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who is the youngest woman and Latina in history elected to serve in Congress? How about Roberto Enrique Clemente Walker and Sonia Maria Sotomayor? Look them up or ask one of our Diversity Council members to share their posters with you the next time you’re over at school. Our students are seeing how these Hispanics maximized their God-given gifts and talents not just for their own lives but for the lives of others. They are realizing too, the power of love within themselves to create and continue such a mission. Sounds like living the gospel to me!
Each week, we will be highlighting the amazing and wonderful things that are happening in our classrooms and grade levels at St. Margaret of Scotland School. We are very proud of the work our teachers do with our students and are amazed by what happens at SMOS. Our goal is to share more about the hidden gem that is St. Margaret’s.
