Look for the HOT PINK! We ask for your help and support as our 7th-grade Safety Patrol takes on a very important role beginning Monday, April 13, 2026.
To practice leadership skills, service, and safety, you will notice our Student Safety Patrol wearing hot pink safety vests at both drop-off and dismissal. Beginning next week, they will be stationed at the parking lot car line, on the Castleman sidewalk between the main doors and the walker gate, and at the Lawrence School entrance.
To bolster the safety of our students, we are asking that you support them in the following expectations and procedures. They will be responsible for:
In Car Line:
- Opening your car door
- Greeting you and your children warmly and joyfully 🙂
- Helping your Children out of the vehicle safely
- Closing your car door
- Keeping the car line moving efficiently
- Making sure all cars ONLY drop children off once stopped in the parking lot – NOT in the cul-de-sac.
- Asking you kindly to pull up as far forward as you can to keep the line moving.
On Castleman sidewalk between the main doors and the walker gate:
- Monitoring bicycles, scooters, and walkers safely on the sidewalks and streets.
- Older students on larger bicycles should keep off the sidewalks, ride on the school side of the street next to parked cars – NOT in between vehicles as they move down Castleman, and not through families and younger children walking on the sidewalk.
On Lawrence:
- Making sure all vehicles park so that they can walk their children into the school. NO vehicles should stop on Lawrence to drop children off. All drop-off occurs in the lot at the end of Castleman.
- Helping Preschool Students and families up steps safely
Thank you for helping in these ways to keep our community safe and to support the next leaders of our school … and our world.
Parent Volunteers Needed
The new Student Safety Patrol is a great opportunity for our middle schoolers to step into leadership while helping keep arrival and dismissal safe—but they could use some help from parent volunteers to ensure cars are moving along safely and to provide backup support if questions arise in the morning. The shift goes quickly and even gives you a chance to greet fellow parents and our school kiddos, all while making a real difference in keeping everyone safe. This is one of those moments where a small commitment has a big impact for the whole community – please consider signing up at the link below.
