EXPLORING MIGRATION: A Faith Journey Program
Meetings are monthly (generally), most often by Zoom, to plan events, lectures, etc., throughout the year.
In addition to the parish work on immigration, St. Margaret of Scotland is also one of the participating parishes of the Immigrant & Refugee Ministry.
Coordinators
Pat Dougherty
Astrid Homan
The Immigration team welcomes and works with immigrants/refugees as part of their faith journey, and advocates for them, including trafficked individuals, DACA students, and others. They invite all parishioners to act on their behalf with mercy and justice through education, programs, action, and advocacy.
Team goals are:
- To recognize in Scripture God’s consistent preferential option for the poor and vulnerable and to realize that it’s how we welcome immigrants into our city/country that we carry out God’s plan in the 21st century.
- To be a beacon of light for those who have been forced to flee their homelands – much like the Holy Family and Queen Margaret of Scotland – offering them safety and comfort.
- To be a voice among St. Margaret of Scotland parishioners empowering them to act in mercy and justice for new arrivals to our city and country.
