The SMOS Living Justice Ministries – Immigration team is organizing a core group of parishioners who are interested in accompanying a local immigrant family on their journey, with guidance from the South City Immigrant & Refugee Ministry (IRM). The team has begun working with this St. Louis family, and is looking for a larger group to provide additional support and resources that the family may need over time. Examples could include: childcare, transportation, furniture, food, contacts to community resources, etc.

The six-parish Immigrant & Refugee Ministry (in which St. Margaret of Scotland is one of the six) has its offices located at St. Pius, and is run by SMOS parishioner Kevin Kuehl. The IRM is currently looking for volunteers interested in learning more about accompaniment training for local migrants and refugees.
The IRM is also working with Catholic Charities to offer “Know Your Rights” and “Power of Attorney” workshops for immigrants as well.
