Join us for several celebrations this month at St. Margaret of Scotland, including Fr. Dominick’s ordination and First Mass, graduations, and of course, Mother’s Day!

A New Week – May 10, 2026

Sixth Sunday of Easter

by Fr. John Vien,
Pastor

~ · Next Saturday, May 16, our friend Brother Dominick Jean, OP, will be ordained a priest of Jesus Christ by Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski at St. Pius V Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Fr. Dominick will celebrate his First Mass here at St. Margaret of Scotland next Sunday, May 17, at 10:00 am, with a reception following in the Church Hall. All are invited to attend both celebrations. Brother Dominick has been a beloved part of our parish community for many years and has fostered many friendships and relationships over these years. He is a fine man, a faithful Dominican, and an excellent preacher, and I am certain he will be an amazing priest! He has contributed so much to the life of this parish over the years, including his involvement with our school community, our Young Professionals, our St. Vincent de Paul Society, as well as making pizza for so many groups and being an energetic presence at so many parish events. Fr. Dominick will serve the community of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in River Forest, IL, but we are happy to have him return to St. Louis and to St. Margaret of Scotland for his Ordination and First Mass. Please plan to join in the celebrations next weekend!

· Next Saturday, May 16, is also graduation day for our St. Margaret of Scotland 8th Grade Class of 2026. Graduation will take place at the 4:30 PM Mass next Saturday evening. Congratulations to our graduates as they head to high school, and congratulations and thanks to their parents and teachers!

· Our outgoing school principal, Patrick Holley, is also graduating this month as he has been awarded a doctorate in education from St. Louis University. Congratulations, Dr. Holley! The community of St. Margaret of Scotland wishes you the best in your future endeavors.

· This weekend, we are also recognizing and honoring our parish high school graduates at our annual Senior Sendoff at the 10:00 AM Mass. Well done, graduates! Congratulations to all who are graduating these days from grade school, high school, college, or graduate school. May the knowledge and wisdom you have gained serve you well, and may you remain close to Jesus and to the Church all your life long!

· Last Sunday, we celebrated with 44 children who received their First Holy Communion at St. Margaret of Scotland Church. If you see a boy or girl wearing their First Communion dress or suit this weekend for their second or third Communion, please congratulate them and welcome them to the Lord’s Table! We pray that our First Communicants will stay close to Jesus and to the Eucharist all their life long.

· Of course, this Sunday is Mother’s Day! I hope that all the mothers of our parish enjoy a beautiful day with their children, family, and friends. May our Blessed Mother Mary intercede for you and be an example of selfless love for God and for your children.

· Thanks to all who have made a pledge or donation to the Annual Catholic Appeal! I hope that everyone will participate in this good work, so make your donation online today, or return your pledge card to the parish this week.

· Our Holy Father’s intention for this month of May is that everyone might have food. Let us pray that everyone, from large producers to small consumers, be committed to avoiding wasting food and to ensuring that everyone has access to quality food. We pray to the Lord…
