Racial Equity: Mini Mill Creek Exhibit

Sponsored by the Living Justice Ministries Racial Equity Team

The St. Margaret of Scotland Racial Equity Team invites parishioners and visitors to view a special Mini Mill Creek Exhibit in the parish hall following Masses on June 21–22 and June 28–29.

The exhibit features ten full-color posters that summarize the larger Mill Creek Valley exhibit currently on display at the Missouri History Museum. Through photographs, maps, and historical information, visitors can learn about the vibrant Black neighborhood that once flourished in St. Louis before being displaced by urban renewal projects in the late 1950s.

We hope this exhibit encourages our community to learn more about this important chapter in St. Louis history and inspires a visit to the full exhibit before it closes on July 12.

The exhibit will be available to view after the 4:30 p.m. Saturday Mass and the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Sunday Masses in the parish hall.

This exhibit is part of parishioner and SMOS student, Josephine Bradshaw’s, history project on Mill Creek. Click the link below to read an excerpt from her nationally award-winning project.
