Preparations Are Underway…
Our students continue to prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the seventh grade and their First Communion in the second grade. Seventh graders receiving confirmation should be finishing up their service hours, choosing a confirmation name, and selecting their sponsors. They can turn those forms into Mr. Fete or me. Our second-grade parents met this week to find out how to help prepare their children for the reception of First Communion in May.
As Lent begins next week with Ash Wednesday, the school will participate in the parish Lenten service project with the Wellston Food Pantry. We will be asking each child to donate a box of their favorite cereal to help stock the food pantry with breakfast cereals for other children and families to enjoy. We will begin collecting cereal boxes after Ash Wednesday and throughout the season of Lent. More details on this to come – including plans for a homeroom contest with the boxes.
We look forward to growing in faith together throughout the season of Lent with prayer opportunities such as Stations of the Cross on Fridays (starting next Friday at Church at 2:00 PM – all are welcome to join!) and Lenten reconciliation services, as well as our ability to contribute to those in need through our parish service project.
