On Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 9am-Noon, the Living Justice Ministries Care for Creation team will volunteer to support Ms. Muhammad at the Be Well Cafe and weed her rain gardens.
Be Well Cafe is located at 2027 Salisbury Street in the Hyde Park neighborhood of North City. Ms. Muhammad opened the cafe/market a little over 1/2 year ago, which hosts a farmer’s market and sells locally sourced foods in a food desert. The cafe is a culinary incubator training neighbors to work in the restaurants, getting ready to pop up all over her neighborhood once NGA is fully operational. And, the upper levels, once complete, will be shared workspaces for neighborhood artisans in hopes of stemming off gentrification.
